What's this workshop all about?

This workshop is for any writer—young, old, published, unpublished, poet, and proser alike—to get some writing up and talked about. Anyone can read and comment. Writers have free accounts to post and revise their writing. Because the web is "worldwide, they get valuable feedback from a diverse group of readers.

You can polish your work up here to publish it. Heck, we'll even publish it for you!

What if I just want to read?

That's cool. Read away. At the bottom of each piece, you can leave a comment for the writer. Please give your honest, constructive criticisms and praise. This workshop exists to fuel improvement.

Do you have rules/guidelines for leaving comments?

Yes. Be respectful. Writing is a personally creative process, and harsh criticisms can be downright mean. Every writer wants to improve, however, so a good rule is this: Mention something that can improve. Mention something the piece does well. If you skip the first part, you're not being much help. If you skip the second part, the writer may give up on the piece altogether.

And a note: Writers do have the power to respond to and delete your comments.

What do you mean you'll publish my work?

The Writ is also an online literary journal and review! We call our publication "WRIToracle". Take a look at our current issue. Every time you upload a piece of writing to the workshop, you have the option of also submitting it to our publication. You can always go back to a piece later, after you've revised it with workshop comments, to mark it for submission.

If you're interested in writing feature or review articles for the WRIToracle, email your ideas to our Editor-in-Chief, Juli‡n Esteban Torres, at julian@thewrit.org.
